YouGroup privacy

Your Feed stays
in your browser.

This policy explains the account and billing information YouGroup uses to provide a paid extension. It applies to the YouGroup website, account service, and browser extension.

Effective October 1, 2026

What stays on your device

YouGroup stores your Lists, followed Channels, cached Uploads, filters, playback queue, and Watched Video markers in your browser’s extension storage. They are not synced to your YouGroup account. If you add an optional YouTube Data API key, it is stored in your browser and used by the extension for YouTube requests; YouGroup’s account service does not receive it.

Removing the extension or clearing its storage can remove this browser-local data. Signing out of your YouGroup account does not remove it.

Account and billing information

When you sign in with Google, YouGroup receives your Google account identifier, name, email address, and profile image from the sign-in response. We use these to create your YouGroup account and recognize you when you return. The website uses a secure session cookie; the extension stores a separate YouGroup session token in extension storage.

Stripe handles Checkout, payment card collection, and billing management. YouGroup stores a Stripe customer identifier, subscription identifier, selected plan, billing status, current period end, and records needed to process Checkout and signed Stripe events. YouGroup does not store your full card number.

Store reviewers may use a private, time-limited access code after Google sign-in to test the extension without a card. This access ends automatically and does not create a Stripe subscription.

How information is used and shared

We use account and billing information to sign you in, determine whether your trial or subscription grants access, provide billing management, prevent duplicate trials, and support your account. Google provides sign-in and Stripe provides payment services. Hosting providers process the network traffic needed to operate the site and account service.

YouGroup does not need access to your YouTube account to organize public Channel Uploads. Your browser may contact YouTube to retrieve public feeds, metadata, and videos when you use the extension.

Optional extension analytics

Optional extension usage analytics is off by default. When you enable it in Settings, YouGroup sends counts of successful List creation, Channel additions, Refresh outcomes, and foreground Feed use, with browser/runtime and release metadata. It uses a random identifier scoped to this installation, never your account identity, List names, Channel or Upload details, browsing history, API keys, or credentials. Turning analytics off removes its local identifier and usage history. Browser Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control preferences disable collection when opening YouGroup. Requests pass through the YouGroup service to our self-hosted analytics service; the relay does not forward your client IP, browser user-agent, authentication headers, or cookies. The YouGroup hosting service necessarily receives standard connection metadata. Analytics is best effort and never required to use YouGroup.

Public website analytics

We use our self-hosted Umami service on public website pages to count page views. Analytics events contain the canonical public page path and do not include your account identity, email address, Lists, Channels, Watched Video markers, or YouTube data. The tracker does not run on account, checkout-return, or API routes. The analytics service and hosting providers process the network requests and standard connection metadata needed to deliver and count these page views.

Retention and your choices

YouGroup sessions expire after 30 days unless you sign out sooner. Short-lived sign-in records expire after 10 minutes and are removed periodically. Account and billing records are kept while needed to provide your subscription, handle billing history, and meet applicable recordkeeping obligations.

You can manage or cancel your subscription through the Billing Portal linked from your YouGroup account. To request access to or deletion of your hosted account information, email bsunter@gmail.com. Deleting hosted account information does not remove data saved in your browser’s extension storage.
